Achieving perfect flatness, parallelism, and mirror surface finish on hardened steel plates requires smooth, shock-free table motion that eliminates feed marks and thermal distortion. Driven by an isolated hydraulic power pack, the longitudinal table reciprocates smoothly with infinitely variable speed and cushioned reversal at stroke ends. The precision cartridge-type grinding wheel spindle is supported on pre-loaded super-precision angular contact bearings, delivering vibration-free grinding wheel rotation. An automated cross-feed mechanism advances the wheel across the workpiece, producing mirror-smooth finishes within 0.002 mm flatness.
