The Internal Pipe Threading Machine by National Cutting Tools is a specialized machine tool engineered for cutting precision internal (female) threads inside pipe ends, coupling sleeves, pipe flanges, and tubular fittings. While external pipe threading is common, machining internal threads on heavy pipe spools and forged sleeves requires rigid tap holding, precise lead control, and rapid spindle reversal to retract the tap cleanly without stripping the newly cut threads. Built on a heavy cast iron bed, the machine features an all-geared headstock with instant forward-reverse electrical switching, an adjustable work-holding vise, and a precision lead screw or manual quill feed. The spindle accommodates heavy-duty machine taps and collapsing tap heads for pipe sizes from 1/2" up to 3" nominal bore (BSP, NPT, and metric standards), delivering concentric, leak-tight internal threads for critical industrial connections. Key Features Instant Spindle Forward / Reverse: Electrical or mechanical clutch enables immediate reverse rotation at the exact depth stop to withdraw the tap safely. Collapsing Tap Compatibility: Supports modern collapsing tap heads that retract cutters radially inward at depth, allowing fast withdrawal without reversing. Heavy All-Geared Headstock: Low spindle RPMs (15 to 45 RPM) provide immense torque required to drive large-diameter internal taps through tough steel. Universal Self-Centering Pipe Clamp: Heavy vise jaws grip pipe blanks concentric to the tapping spindle, ensuring true axial thread alignment. Adjustable Depth Stop Trip: Precision micro-switch stops forward tap travel at exact programmed depth, preventing bottoming-out tap breakage. High-Pressure Internal Coolant Flushing: Directs coolant deep into the pipe bore to flush chips backward and lubricate tap cutting edges.
